Do you take any special requests?

Yes! I'm always open to any special song requests - it what makes my job so fun!! I'm always learning new songs for nearly every wedding I do.

Can you play outside?

I need a 2x3m flat surface - ideally paved, tiled, or wooden decking.

Harps are very sensitive to weather conditions, and are built for being indoors. However, with the right conditions I'm very happy to play for your outdoor ceremony/reception.

Yes -
On a sunny day: I need shady spot out of direct sunlight - sun exposure can damage the wood, glue, and varnish on the harp as well as making the metal parts too hot to touch. Trees are fine for shade if there's plenty of coverage.

Chance of gentle showers: I need suitable dry cover (veranda, gazebo etc) - even a little water can damage a harp!

No -
Windy: my harp could topple over and break (have had near misses!!) Gentle wind is okay.

Rain/heavy rain: It's really hard to keep the harp dry in heavy rain even with cover, and the harp is sensitive to significant humidity changes. Cold: if you need a coat, so does the harp! It's most comfortable at 20 degrees (as am I!!).

Do you need a deposit?

I ask for a £100 non-refundable deposit to secure the date.

How loud is the harp?

In a wedding ceremony the harp can be heard perfectly - I'm often told it's the perfect volume of loud enough to be appreciated, but not intrusive. I tend to use my amp for drinks receptions, meals, and when playing outdoors. For high-quality output I use my trusty Yamaha Stagepas 100BTR paired with the specialist Dusty Strings harp pickup I had permanently installed on my harp.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance?

Yes and I can send the certificate to your venue if they need it.

Do you play with a violin?

This is not a frequently asked question but I do play at many weddings with the wonderful James Warburton - you can book us here!

Can you move to different areas throughout the day?

I'm happy to relocate for different sections of your wedding day but it will take me about 20mins to move my setup between rooms, and even longer between different venues. It's usually quite seamless between a ceremony and drinks reception as I move during the confetti shot and large group photo so I'm ready to play by the time your guests start gathering for the drinks.

How far do you travel?

I'm happy to go anywhere if you're happy to match my price! I'm based in Flintshire and will calculate petrol, travel time, and accommodation accordingly. I usually don't charge any travel for venues in Flintshire, Denbighshire, Conwy, and Cheshire West.
